William James Downes passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord, following a lengthy and valiant battle with Cancer. Survived by the love of his life for over 60 years Margaret (nee Byers) and his 3 daughters Lorelei (Darren Locke), Katharine (Gord Ridout) and Kristine (John Korosec).
Well known for a great ‘fish story’ Bill was an avid outdoorsman and gifted heavy tow truck operator. On many a snowy night, he raced toward danger to keep the roads clear for others. His first instincts were always to help and fix, he could often be found helping others and lending them his calm strength. His favourite memories were travelling on family vacations, playing with his horses and dogs, or simply enjoying delicious meals with the family. Bill maintained his sense of humour, and enjoyment of life until the very end. Well known for his famous pancake breakfasts, and real maple syrup. Bill was known for his many tshirts -loved to wear them to his chemo appointments and have the staff laugh. He was a strong man who had a lot of pride.
He delighted in his many grandchildren Zachariah, Chase, Wyatt, Domenic and Samantha, Step Grandkids Riley and Ethan. Most recently adding 3 beautiful great granddaughters Bellamy, Scarlett and Chloe to his legacy. Predeceased by his parents Geneva (nee Payne) and Bill Sr., as well as his beloved twin sister Ivy Foley (Doug). He will be deeply missed by his family, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
