Wendy passed away peacefully at her residence, Amica Little Lake, Barrie, on Wednesday July 16, 2025 at the age of 84 years. Loved and missed by her children Elizabeth Ashworth (Paul) and David Auger (Alisa). Beloved sister of Tom Frood (Janet) and Jean Bensley (late George). Wendy is predeceased by her sister Alexandria Frood.
You may have been lucky enough to know her, and for those who didn’t, suffice to say that she was one of the kindest and most generous souls around, with a keen sense of humour. Wendy had a profound love of family, friends, and pets. She was very dedicated to her mother, with whom she had a special life-long unbreakable bond.
Wendy was an educator, author, artist, and very often the smartest person in the room. She was a teacher in Ontario, France, and the UK, and a Professor at York University and Nipissing University. Wendy had a love of all things artistic and how they relate to life. She was a published author, poet, and her hobbies included jewelry making, sculpture, weaving, stained glass, antiquing, painting, genealogy, and all things Christmas. Her local participation included the Messiah choir, Heritage Uxbridge, and she was very active at St. Paul’s Anglican Church.
A memorial ceremony will be held to honour Wendy at Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge on Friday October 3rd at 1pm, with visitation to commence at 12pm. Reception to follow. Private family interment.
