It is with profound sadness that we share the news of (Vera) Joan White’s passing on October 1, 2025. Joan passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side.
Joan always said her greatest achievement was being a mom to Paul, Pam (John), Chris (Joanne) and Ian (Patrizia). She was a second mom to Sandra, the mother of her grandkids Tyler (Quynh), Shannon (Aaron) and Spencer (Liv) whom she was very proud of. She was Auntie Joan to many nieces, nephews and great, great-great nieces and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, John White, her parents John and Vera Nicholls and her brothers Eric (Joan) and Ken (Eefje).
After caring for her children as a stay-at-home mom, Joan worked as a librarian’s assistant at Chalkfarm Public School in Downsview. There she spent many rewarding years encouraging young minds to read. Joan herself was an avid reader from a young age and always had one or two books on the go.
During summer breaks, Joan took great pleasure at the family farm in Vroomanton, creating treasured memories with her husband, parents, young children and neighbors.
Joan, together with her husband, was a proud member of Beverley Hills United Church and cherished the close relationships she made with the Beverley Hills parishioners. In their retirement years, Joan and John enjoyed travelling with family and friends.
In later years when life became less active, Joan’s favourite pastime was sitting in her enclosed porch on a sunny day laughing at the shenanigans of the birds in the birdbath. Joan also loved her garden and enjoyed watching her flowers grow.
Joan will be greatly missed by family and friends.
In keeping with Joan's wishes a private family interment will take place at a later date.
