Stephen Carl Maguire Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Steve, who passed away surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Steve was predeceased by his loving parents, Carl and Florence, as well as his older sister Joyce and brother James (Jim)

Steve was a devoted husband, father, and grampy. Married for 50 years to his wife Doreen (nee Porteous), their partnership was a beautiful testament to unconditional love and commitment. Steve is also survived by his cherished children Jessica (Jeremy West), Jeremy, and Jared (Michelle), and his adored grandchildren Bethany, Abigail, and Daxton.

Steve was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and his faith remained important to him throughout his life.

Steve loved his career as a transportation supervisor at Canada post, were he worked until retirement. He was handy around the house, enjoyed home renovation projects, cars, and sitting on the back deck listening to good music. Steve was a lover of animals, people, and a good conversation.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fairview Lodge for the exceptional care Steve received during his time there. The comfort and compassion the staff brought to Steve and his family during his last few days is immeasurable and will truly never be forgotten. They would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Alzheimer’s Society of Durham.

While the fond memories of Steve will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, he will be deeply missed.
