It is with great sadness that we announce the very sudden and unexpected passing of Stephen "Steve" Neil Lawton, on August 11, 2021, at the young age of 71. Loving husband of Denise (Topper-Lawton) for 34 plus years and Oscar his cat buddy. Youngest son of Victor and Bernice Lawton (deceased) from Markham, older brother Ross (Elaine) and sister Judy (Leonard) (deceased). He will be greatly missed by all nephews, nieces, close friends and everyone thought of as family.
Steve was a hard-working, dedicated, quiet compassionate force that treated everyone with respect and caring and was truly admired by all who met him during his many years of work at Emerson Electric, Stouffville LCBO, Stouffville Co-op, RONA Uxbridge. He spoke fondly of his memories and friends during his time as a volunteer Firefighter in Markham.
Steve was an avid outdoorsman taking great pleasure spending time at our off the grid cabin, communing with nature while taking amazing photographs, quiet time for himself and special time and memories shared with family and dear friends. Like his mom who was an amazing artist, Steve was very inventive in woodworking, creating lamps, blacksmithing, leather work, restoring antique boat motors while always looking for a new way to express his amazing unique talents. Steve greeted everyone with his smile and witty endless conversation while ensuring he had a joke to share with almost all.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Steve’s home outside of Siloam, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Those who wish to make a donation in Steve’s memory are invited to support the current Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity dear to your heart.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Box 388, (905-852-3073).
