Seija Pietila

Loved mother of Jari (Eija), Anne (Mike), and Roy (Ruth).  Cherished mummu of Tracie (Lennon), Jon, Sam, Tabitha, Grace and Aidan and great mummu to Hunter.  Predeceased and loved by her husband Esko and son Juha.  Daughter to the late Sulamith and Alpo Lindholm.  Sister of Sue Duhaime and the late Terttu Wrixon.

Seija was born and raised in Finland.  As a young girl she was separated from her family and moved to Sweden to a farm during WWII and returned to Finland when it was safe.  She met her husband in Finland and had two children before immigrating to Canada in 1957.  She had two more children in Canada. She and her husband immersed themselves in the Finnish community in Toronto.  They enjoyed their weekends at Finnish camp (Cedar Club) and made meaningful friends that lasted their lifetimes.

Seija enjoyed a busy household.  When her children moved out, she replaced them with dogs and always was surrounded by at least one dog. 

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 1pm to 2pm at Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge, (905-852-3073). The service will be held at 2pm, with a reception to follow.
