Ronald Marquette Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Ronald Allan Paul Marquette, aged 79,  on March 23, 2024, at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, Ontario peacefully surrounded by his family.

Ron was born in Fort William, Ontario, to Aurele and Rose Marquette on September 8, 1944.  At the tender age of 18, Ron moved from the prairies to British Columbia where he proceeded to meet the love of his life, Mary, in Vancouver.  Ron worked most of his life as a sheet metal mechanic and after that, also took on the role of a professional driver for various industries, including Enterprise where he developed a large network of friends.  Ron was a deeply loving and caring person with a fantastic sense of humour that he shared with a select few.  After retiring, Ron and Mary, adventurers at heart, travelled extensively and moved to the East Coast where they started and ran Comfort Cove, a very successful bed and breakfast on Cape Breton Island.

Ron is survived by his daughters Sarah (Bruce) Marquette and Valerie Marquette, granddaughters Claire and Nora Connolly, his brothers Remi (Joan) Marquette and Daryl (Bobbie) Marquette.  Ron is also survived by his nephews Brian (Rowena) Elgood and Chris (Diane) Marquette and his nieces Barbara (Rick) Steele, Bobbi Jo (Brad) Reeves and Cheryl Marquette.  His kindness and compassion live on in the memory and hearts of all who knew him, but especially the important children in his life: Dahlia, Gus, Rebecca, and Elizabeth.   Ronald was predeceased by Mary, his wife of almost 50 years, as well as his parents, his sister Laurice (Gary) Gusdall, and his son-in-law Roger Slaney.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at 11am EST, at Low and Low Funeral home in Port Perry, Ontario.  For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be live-streamed on their website.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oak Ridges Hospice, Durham Region Cancer Centre, or a charity of your choice will be deeply appreciated by the family.
