BROWETT, Roger
December 14, 1929 – October 23, 2023
Roger William Deverell Browett, of Uxbridge, Ontario, went to be with his Saviour on October 23, 2023 at the age of 93. He passed away at Uxbridge Hospital after a short illness.
Roger was born in Toronto to Wilmot and Vera Browett, and lived in the city for most of his life before retiring in Uxbridge. His mother passed away when he was young, and Roger was raised by his father and stepmother Betty.
In 1952, he married the love of his life, Audrey Binns, and they enjoyed 71 very happy years together. Roger retired in 1990 after a career at Imperial Life, and previously worked as a chiropractor. He had many hobbies and interests, led by spending time with his family. He enjoyed board games; travelling with Audrey and their sons throughout North America; woodworking, including furniture making; and following his favourite sports teams, the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Roger was a committed Christian. He served faithfully in several churches in a variety of roles, including deacon, finance, Sunday School teacher, and pianist.
Roger leaves behind many family members and friends. He will be greatly missed, especially by Audrey; his sons Daniel and Paul (Marian); grandchildren Andrew (Krystyna), Charlene (Joshua), Matthew, and Amy; great-grandchildren Levi and Lorelai; siblings Miriam (Ross), Beulah (Anthony), and Wendell; and sister-in-law Gerry. He was also predeceased by several close family members, including his daughter-in-law Jennifer; half-brother Herbert (Ruth); brother-in-law David; and sisters-in-law Geraldine and Diane.
His family is grateful to everyone for their love, prayers and encouragements.
A private celebration of Roger’s life was held on Saturday October 28, 2023 in Scarborough, Ontario. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to GRID (Ghana Rural Integrated Development). Memories can be shared at www.lowandlow.ca.
