Richard Mackfall Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa surrounded by his family on October 24, 2020.  Predeceased by his soulmate Linda, whom he built a wonderful life with. Treasured and loving father to Jennifer (Blayne), James, and Kimberley (Jeremy).  Adored by his grandchildren Mason, Maverick, Lucas and Brock.  Richard will be deeply missed by his siblings Mike (the late Mary-Lou), Jeannette (Doug) and John (Linda).   He will also be remembered by his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Richard is now reunited with his true love Linda.

Richard was born in Lincoln, England and arrived in Canada when he was a young man. Right away he felt at home in his community and found fulfilment in giving back. He worked hard to establish a lifelong career as a devoted member of the Toronto Police Service as a Detective Police Constable.  Over the 34 years in the police force, Richard worked in various divisions and departments but found his passion working in Forensics. His position in the Forensics team enabled him to serve and protect his community with honour and create lasting memories with his colleagues which became valued friendships.

Richard and Linda bought their forever home in Whitby where they had a remarkable life raising their three children.  Richard always had a deep love for his family and took pride in being a father. He happily prepared pancake breakfasts, took the family on day trips or holidays and spent fun-filled weekends at the trailer, fishing and boating. He actively participated in his children’s lives both academically and socially where he made cherished memories as a coach and leader.  His appreciation for his children carried through to his grandchildren, whom he loved so much. He was always present in their lives, bringing treats and surprises and ensuring there was endless fun, with jokes and laughter.

Richard was a loving, kind and generous man, with a heart of gold. He is fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends.

He never looked for praises
He was never one to boast
He just goes on quietly working
For those he loves the most

His dreams are seldom spoken
His wants are very few
And most of the time his worries
Will go unspoken too

He’s there…. A firm foundation
Through all our storms of life
A sturdy hand to hold to
In times of stress and strife

A true friend we can turn to
When times are good or bad
One of our greatest blessings,
The man that we call Dad.
