It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter John Upton, surrounded by his adoring family, at Hospice Peterborough on April 29, 2025. Cherished husband of 50 years to Jo-Anne (née Brown). Loving father to Jeffrey (Christine), Peter "Alex" (Lynda), and Jennifer Hobbs (Kevin). Peter found immense joy in his grandchildren - Owen, Ben, Brinley, Blake, Briar, and Kade - and was a devoted companion to his bestie, Doggie. Predeceased by his parents, Kenneth John Upton and Constance Arabel Upton (née Brown), he was a dear brother to Lucy (Norm), Elaine (predeceased Stew), Karla, Craig (Suzy), Donna (Graham), and Stephen. A kindred spirit to brother-in-law, Jim (Daphne) and David Brown (Lorraine). Peter was also deeply loved by his many nieces and nephews, who treasured his humour, and generous spirit. He was a lifelong friend to Pam and Steve Haslam, and John Oswell.
Peter's wife, family and friends were his top priority. He spent time with them travelling the world, enjoying family parties, relaxing at the cottage in Coboconk, and of course, rubbing elbows with his cousins and "the lads" at the camp. This was something he looked forward to each year and held a special place in his heart. Peter was a dedicated fan of Gordon Lightfoot, a '74 TR6 restoration enthusiast, lover of Harleys and a handyman extraordinaire; always ready to lend a hand to family and friends. His "Papa Petie-isms" and extreme love of the colour orange will always be remembered with a smile.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Low & Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry (905-985-7331). A Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be announced at a later date. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff and volunteers at Hospice Peterborough for their exceptional care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that donations be made to Hospice Peterborough. For online condolences, please visit www.lowandlow.ca
