On Thursday September 12,2024 Paul passed away at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital at the age of 73 after a prolonged illness with his devoted partner Nellie Root at his side.
Born to Patricia (nee Gough) and George Mateciuk in Windsor, Ontario. He leaves behind his loving and devoted sisters, Sharon (Doug Pitre), Karen (Brian Boal) and sister-in-law and confidante Jackie (Jacqueline) Mailloux (partner of George Mateciuk Jr./deceased). His mischievous antics will no doubt be a source of interesting stories, recounted by his nieces and nephews.
His passing will also be mourned by the members of his beloved extended family, “the Root clan”, Richard, Stan and Anne, Tim and Karen, Rhoda and Andre and Ruby and Dino and
numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his best friends Peter Shier, Howie Underwood and Gary Laing who were regularly regaled by the tales of his misadventures in his man-cave/garage. His life long friend Bryant Taylor who resides in Windsor, was not spared his antics through their frequent communications and chats.
Roadway Poet (long Haul Trucker), Babysitter to the Stars, The Ice Man, Kubota Kid, Wunder Wieners’ Dad, Santa Claus, Fanatic Maple Leaf Fan and the ever opinionated Weatherman (prognosticator/blogger); are a few titles he proudly wore like medals throughout his colourful life. His untimely passing will leave a void, once filled by a kind heart and joyful personality.
Please join us to celebrate his life at the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 170, 109 Franklin Street, Uxbridge on Saturday October 19, 2024 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.
