It is with deep sorrow and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of Paul Michael Gavin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the age of 88 in Collingwood, Ontario. Paul was predeceased by his cherished wife of 55 years, Mary Barbara (nee Moran), and his brother, Jack. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Chris (Alison), and his adored granddaughters, Ceilidh and Fiona. He was the dear son of the late Harold and Helen Gavin, and is survived by his brothers, Michael and Phillip, along with numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and close friends who held him in high regard as a fun-loving and caring person.
A quiet and humble man, Paul’s life was defined by his dedication to family, his work, and his passions. He worked at Dixon Ticonderoga for over 25 years, later transitioning into a part time role at Enterprise Rent-a-Car, where he worked for over 10 years in retirement.
Beyond his professional life, Paul was a devoted coach in minor league baseball, sharing his love for the game and mentoring young players. He also enjoyed a variety of personal hobbies, including golf, woodworking, and taking Sunday afternoon drives with his family.
Paul’s greatest joy was his family. He found deep fulfillment in the time spent with his grandchildren, Ceilidh and Fiona, and will be remembered for his patience, kindness, and unwavering support. A quiet soul with a deep love for those around him, Paul’s legacy will live on in the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation to honour Paul’s memory.
