It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Onofrio “Richard” Spatola, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, in his 69th year. Richard passed away peacefully on Saturday June 13th, after a long and courageous battle, facing every challenge with the determination, strength, and spirit that defined his life.

Richard was the devoted husband of Sharon Spatola, the love of his life. Together they shared a bond that endured through every triumph and hardship. He fought every day to remain by Sharon’s side, carrying the heart of an Italian warrior until his very last breath.

He was a proud and loving father to his daughters, Starr, Melanie, and Lissa, and his son, Santino. Richard was also a respected and loved father-in-law, welcoming his children’s spouses as part of the family he treasured so deeply. Nothing brought Richard greater joy than his grandchildren. He was immensely proud of Cameron, Kenzie, Taylor, Dylan and Jayden, and spoke often of their accomplishments and the happiness they brought into his life.

Richard was a man of many words, strong opinions, and remarkable knowledge. He took great pride in his craft, his experience, and the wisdom he gathered throughout his life. Whether offering advice, sharing a story, or engaging in spirited debate, Richard left an impression on everyone he met.

His home was always open. Family, friends, and visitors alike were welcomed with generosity, conversation, and the unmistakable warmth that made Richard who he was. He believed in bringing people together, and his door—and his heart—were open to all. Those who knew Richard will remember his strength, resilience, and fighting spirit. He never backed down from a challenge and remained ready for battle until his final day. If we could all possess even a fraction of Richard’s courage and determination, the world would undoubtedly be a better place.

Your kindness, care, and support brought comfort to Richard and Sharon during his final journey. Richard held a deep appreciation for each of you and often spoke of the exceptional care he received.
