It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Norma Forder on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, in her 98th year. Born on October 7, 1928, Norma was the last surviving sibling of thirteen—a testament to her strength and the long, rich life she led. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Forder, with whom she shared 77 remarkable years before his passing on February 12, 2026. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and hard work.
Norma will be deeply missed by her loving daughters: Gale (Ralph Ballard), Anna, and Rhonda (Paul Atkinson). She was the proud grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of sixteen, all of whom brought her immeasurable joy. A devoted partner to Harold in both life and business, Norma played a vital role in opening Pine Ridge Packers in Blackstock. Her meticulous nature was reflected in everything she touched, from her beautifully organized home to her fantastic cooking. A lifelong note-taker, she approached every task with careful attention to detail.
Norma was an active member of the Port Perry United Church, guided by a steady and private faith. Beyond her domestic life, she had a vibrant, playful spirit. An avid golfer, she especially cherished time on the links with friends during vacations in Hilton Head. Closer to home, she took great delight in skating for fun and staying active. Norma’s gardens were a place of both beauty and deep study. She was passionate about her vegetable garden on Pine Ridge Farm, where she meticulously canned and preserved everything she grew. Whether tending to her vegetables or researching the history and meaning behind every flower, she ensured her greenery was as meaningful as it was beautiful.
A celebration of Norma's life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Low & Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. and a luncheon reception. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, Ontario, in recognition of the compassionate care Norma received. Friends are invited to send condolences or make donations by visiting www.lowandlow.ca.
