Nathan McDonald Obituary

It is with insurmountable sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Nate on Sunday July 21, 2024 at the age of 34 years. Loving partner of Lucy Ventura. Cherished son of Robert and Jaqueline McDonald and big brother to Victoria and dear friend, Travis.

Nate was a Grade 8 graduate at Quaker Village Public School awarded the Male Athlete of the Year and his school crest. Uxbridge Secondary School's OFSAA Silver Champion Rugby player. Played many years with the Uxbridge Youth Hockey Association's house league, rep and AA teams. He worked part time for Shopper's Drug Mart pharmacy, Township of Uxbridge lifeguard and swim instructor at Uxpool as well as summer student in the Works department. He completed a Kinesiology degree at Brock University and spent his summers working for the City of Toronto's Parks department. Upon graduation, Nathan worked both at Aecon as a Health and Safety Advisor and A & J Vacworx as a Manager, Health and Safety. Co-workers shared he would never say no as busy as he was and was the "go to person" who was dependable, efficient and incredibly smart. He would rather take on the burden than leave it to them to stress about it. As an adult, he enjoyed playing hockey, organizing and playing in his work baseball tournament, snowboarding, mountain biking on the Trails of Uxbridge, kayaking along the Pefferlaw River thoroughly enjoying the outdoors and enjoying bonfires and swimming at his Victoria Harbour cottage in Georgian Bay. He was a comrade at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 170 for 15 years and played darts on the Uxbridge Legion Dart League.

Nathan had a smile as bright as the sun with an incredibly kind heart who was loved by many and our hearts mourn for his close Uxbridge friends Andy, Ryan, Tyler, Sam, Jessica, Jocelyn, Jess and Katie along with his university friends Brad, Oscar, Nick, Katelyn, Simone, Jennifer and Heather plus his Aecon friends George and Brad and the A & J Vacworx gang George, Cody B, Kevin and Brittany.

Our tragedy is not only losing Nathan in the prime of his life; our Nathan was excited to be a father unfortunately he leaves behind his unborn child.

Cremation has been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge. A celebration of Nate's life will be held at a later date.  As expressions of sympathy, donations to Remembering Nathan.
