It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Monique de Ruyter on February 28, 2025 at the age of 75 years. Loved and missed by her husband Tom Bolander and children Matthew Bolander and Juliana Dorney and grandchildren Cassandra and Connor. Also missed by her uncle Hank Bahlmann and the Bahlmann family. Our family dog Sami also misses her very much.
Monique was an engineer at Ontario Hydro/OPG for 30 plus years. She was also a certified SCUBA diving instructor and it was during one of her diving courses that she met her husband Tom. They were married for nearly 50 years. Monique enjoyed skiing with friends in Europe and Matthew in the Canadian Rockies.
After retiring from OPG, Monique worked for AECL Canada and then AREVA on various projects at the Canadian nuclear plants. When she finally decided to retire, Monique started golfing in the Uxbridge women’s league during the summer months and during the winter months she enjoyed curling here in Uxbridge.
A celebration of Monique’s life will be held at Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South on Saturday April 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM with visitation one hour prior. Reception to follow.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the wonderful caring folks at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry would be appreciated by the family. Friends are invited to send condolences by visiting www.lowandlow.ca
