With great sadness, we announce that Michael (Mick) Andrew McGuire passed away in his 71st year on Wednesday, February 26 with his wife Pat, stepson Jeff and brother John at his side. Loving husband to Pat, step dad to Jeff and daughter-in-law Ashley. Mike was a loving grandfather to Sophia, Audrey and Mason and enjoyed spending time with them. Brother-in-law to David and Stuart (Valerie) Findlay. Loving uncle to David (Rosie) and George. Mike is now reunited with his fur-pals Barney, Teddy and Charlie.

Born in Oshawa, Mike is predeceased by his parents Francis Patrick (Mickey) and Bernadette Mary (nee Foley) and brother Peter. One of six siblings, he is survived by Susan Dulny (Jim deceased), John (Maureen), Mary-Frances (Stephen) and twin Maureen (Bernie deceased). Michael leaves behind many nieces, nephews and relatives both in Canada and the UK.

Along with his siblings, Mike worked long hours at the family shoe store Mickey McGuire Shoes in Ajax and contributed greatly to its success. Mike was an excellent caregiver to his parents in their later years displaying love, kindness and generosity.

Michael had a long career with the Durham Catholic School Board as a chief custodian and was well respected for his work ethic and kindness. He enjoyed traveling with Pat, including their recent trip to England, watching sports, reading The Economist, and spending time with family.

Mike was known for his quick wit, beautiful smile, and the pride he had in his family. He will be greatly missed by everyone. We as a family are grateful to everyone who offered kindness and support as his health declined in the past few months.
