Mike- a man of many gestures, a man of many words
But how many held a hint of humor, comical, absurd!
A family man with love a plenty everywhere he went
His home time, to him, was always time well spent.
Dedicated to his community, a pillar of the church, Peniel
Wore his jeans and caps with his own sense of farmer style.
You wouldn’t see him without a smirk on his face
A laugh on his lips that even time cannot erase.
For we will remember him in so many ways
His legacy lives on; in our memories he stays.
He was a man of vision and of deep insight
Strategically thinking until it came out just right.
Involved in antiques, though he wasn’t yet old
Steam never escaping his ears, or so I’ve been told.
He gave working with his hands a whole new meaning,
And only for a moment would he ever be seen leaning.
Not only did he love to paddle, but also fixing up canoes
So we could join him in the drains, every year wetting his shoes!
Yes, he said when it comes to canoes, you can never have too many
But I bet on more than a few, he’s spent a pretty penny.
To help someone else if they were ever in need
He really had an aversion when speaking of greed.
Giving his time and talents each day of his life
Helping all his neighbours or anyone in strife.
Yes, Mike will be surely missed and we will shed some tears
He’s been more like a brother to us all through the years.
Not just for his Groundhog contest or for Sharing his treasures
What he leaves behind for us all defies to be measured.
It’s the love of his family, and his Sandra so dear;
It’s the laughter of his grandkids whenever they are near;
The pleasures we have shared and the kindness he has shown
So let his smile live on in you, and in the seeds that he has sown.
Rest in peace Mike, rest in peace.
