Matthew Scott Hewson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Matthew on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 30 years of age. Beloved son of John and Frances (nee Law) Hewson.  Cherished brother of Daniel, Johnny and sister Brandi (Curtis).  Adored by his nephews and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Remembered fondly by his numerous friends as a generous, easygoing and fun loving guy.

Matt accomplished a great deal in his short life.  He discovered his calling in carpentry, and his skill, creativity and strong work ethic allowed him to start his own successful business, New Horizon Carpentry.  He took great pride in the renovations he was currently doing on his waterfront house with the help of his dad. Matt was passionate about sustainable living and loved working in his huge vegetable garden. He loved the outdoors, to travel and experience new places and was devoted to his faithful dog Rosso.  Matt always looked forward to the next family function or get together with his friends. All who knew him were touched by his enormous heart.

Visitation will be held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry (905-985-7331) on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. Due to COVID restrictions, a private Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 2p.m. to Midnight at Fawks Nest Country Estate, 6100 Concession Rd 7, Uxbridge. If desired, donations in memory of Matt can be made to CAMH.

Following the Government Recommendations, all attendees must wear a mask or face covering, and maintain social distancing while at the visitation or service; attendance within the facility will be monitored.
