Marguerite passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Parkview Long-Term Care in Stouffville, Ontario, on November 27, 2025, two weeks before her 105th birthday. Marguerite began her life journey in Clarke City, Quebec.
Wife to Ralph Monaghan (predeceased) and loving mother of Margaret Laverty (Michael, predeceased), Brian (predeceased), Will (Cecilia), and David (Jane).
Marguerite had 6 grandchildren - Brian Laverty (Catherine), Sandra Laverty (Chris), Sue Laverty (Stu), Melanie Hanson (Ed), Patrick Monaghan (Jennie), and Strider Monaghan. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Marguerite was a dedicated elementary school teacher for The Montreal Catholic School Board for over 30 years. She was a teacher who cared about her many students. She moved from Ville St Laurent, Quebec to Renfrew, Ontario and then finally to Uxbridge, Ontario before spending eight years in long-term care in Stouffville.
Marguerite loved music. She played the piano and entertained audiences with her beautiful voice. She was an avid photographer and created some interesting artwork. She loved to play bridge before her hearing and eyesight failed her.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cottage Hospital in Uxbridge, Ontario are appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home in Uxbridge. A private family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
