Lorna Marie Whiteside

With her family present, as well as her minister Reverend Sean Astop, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorna Marie Whiteside (Anderson) into the loving arms of our Lord on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Lorna is predeceased by her husband Alex, brother Bob and parents Lawrence and Lizzie.  She leaves behind her children Bob (Tracey), Linda and grandchildren Alex (Sarah), Sarah and Steven whom she loved dearly. 

Lorna was born and raised in Ninga, Manitoba and moved to Toronto with her parents and brother when she was 16 years old.  She had fond memories and lots of stories about growing up on the Prairies and of spending many days on her grandparents farm in Ninga.   Alex and Lorna raised their family in Markham and then moved to Uxbridge after retirement where they lived the remainder of their years.  We want to thank Dr. Tong and nurses Stefani, Daylon, Neil and Lisa for their exceptional care during Lorna’s last day.  

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” Proverbs 11:25. 

Lorna showed kindness all her life to others and was refreshed in return.  Even in her last days she was thinking of others and trying to find ways to encourage and uplift their spirits despite her failing health.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Visitation will be held at the St. Andrew's-Chalmers Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 1p.m. until 3p.m. Funeral will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11a.m. with a reception to follow in the church hall. Online condolences can be made at www.lowandlow.ca
