Kimberly Morrell Obituary

Passed away peacefully Oak Ridges Hospice, Port Perry on Tuesday April 28, 2026 at the age of 49 years.  Loved and missed by her mother Dixie Van Dusen and father Ken Morrell (Jang). Greatly missed by her nephew Jake Robinson.  Loved and missed by her step-siblings Peyton and Volk Jasungnoen.  Cherished niece of Frances Olson (Allan), Helen Hope (late John), Marianne Morrell, Art Morrell (Isabelle), Gerald Morrell (Sherrill), Roy Haggerty (Amanda) and Phillip Haggerty (Rachel).  Also remembered by her many cousins and extended family.  Predeceased by her sister Cheri-Lynne and Uncle Harold.

Kimmie, known to many as “KJ,” was the proud owner and operator of KJ’s Shack in Port Perry, Ontario from 2011 to 2016. She became a familiar and beloved presence in the community, recognized not only for her hard work but for her generous spirit. Kimmie organized numerous charitable events in support of local causes, with a special dedication to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer.

After selling her business in 2016, she took a four‑month break in Mexico to grieve the loss of her older sister. Upon returning home, she channelled her strength and determination into a new path, enrolling in the Hospitality Management Program at Durham College. She graduated with honours, and—never one to stop learning—went on to pursue further studies in the Culinary Arts Program.

During her time in school, Kimmie also worked seasonally at the Goodwood Golf Course as the Food and Beverage Manager, where her leadership, warmth, and professionalism made a lasting impression.

Her educational journey was cut short when she was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. Kimmie faced her illness with remarkable courage, fighting bravely for a year and a half.

A Celebration of Kimmie’s life will be celebrated in the near future.  Cremation has been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Port Perry.  Donations to Oak Ridges Hospice or the New Animal Shelter for Uxbridge-Scugog would be appreciated by the family.  Friends are invited to share memories, express condolences or make donations www.lowandlow.ca.
