Joyce Marie (Wilson) Lewchuk

Passed away peacefully at home in Orangeville, Ontario surrounded by her family on September 18, 2021 in her 71st year.

Beloved wife of Richard for 43 years. Cherished mother of Leah Berg (Rob) and Simon (Ashley). Loving grandmother of Isaiah, Sophie, Nathaniel, Samuel, Benjamin, Ruby and Oliver. Survived by her mother Marie Wilson (Earl 2014), sisters Carol Irwin (Neil) & Marlene Archibald (Ian 2021), and brothers Rick & Scott (Beth).

Joyce was a blessing to many. In her life roles as daughter, sister, friend, nurse, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother she was steadfast in her care and concern for others. She taught us about lifelong commitment, trust, and endurance. We will also cherish her wit and sense of humour.

Joyce’s life adventures included driving tractors, fixing fences, and milking cows on the family dairy farm at Epsom; studying at Port Perry High School and Ontario Bible College; training as a nurse at Toronto Western Hospital before working for many years with Victorian Order of Nurses and later parish nursing; and serving with Richard in church ministry in Wiarton and Kitchener.

Joyce committed her life to Jesus, trusted him daily and was a wonderful example to many of us. Throughout a ten-year battle with cancer, Joyce never complained and continued to put others before herself. Joyce’s faith and trust in Jesus is what carried her, and it is in His arms that she now rests.

The family appreciates the compassionate and quality care the medical teams provided Joyce.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 24 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Uxbridge Baptist Church in Uxbridge, Ontario. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 25 at 1:00 p.m.  Due to current public health regulations the funeral will be private, but you are invited to participate online. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joyce's memory to World Vision Canada or your local food bank.

Following the Government Recommendations, all attendees must wear a mask or face covering, and maintain social distancing while at the visitation or service; attendance within the facility will be monitored.
