John Herbert Marks, aged 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 18, 2024 at his home in Claremont after a short battle with cancer. John was born to Charlotte and Jack Marks on November 15, 1948 in Toronto, Ontario.
John attended the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School where he was a goalie for the ice hockey team. He played Junior B hockey for St. Michael’s College and worked as an Assistant Hockey Coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY under Coach Jim Salfi. John played hockey with local Uxbridge teams well into his 60’s and had a great love for the sport. He also enjoyed baseball, was a founder of the Claremont men's slow pitch league and also an avid golfer. An adept guitarist and music enthusiast, he inspired musicality in his family.
John began his business career in medical sales with Deknatel in Toronto. He worked with American Medical Systems for over 20 years before moving to private consulting. In retirement, John enjoyed being at home, working on the house, tending his garden, listening to music and spending time with family.
John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Karen (nee Scales), as well as his children Emily Suess, Jack Marks and Rob Marks; one grandchild James Suess; brother Brian Marks (Elaine), sister Nancy Marks, and sister-in-law Ellen Marks. He was predeceased by brother Kevin Marks and parents Jack and Charlotte (Ogilvie) Marks.
Please join us celebrating his life during a Memorial Service on Saturday August 31, 2024 at 11:00am at the Claremont Union Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Claremont Legion. All are welcome to attend.
Cremation has been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge.
