James "Jim" Neufeld Obituary

Passed away at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry on Thursday October 10, 2024, at the age of 72 years.  Loved and missed beyond measure by his wife of 51 years, Sandy (nee Nolan). Jim always said that it was love at first sight when he first saw Sandy in residence at Western University. Jim’s family was his life, and he was proud of each one of his children and the special, caring people that they grew up to be. He will always be loved and remembered by his children and their spouses Eric (Tricia-Lee) Erin (Billy MacKenzie), Alyce (Jason Allen) and Laurel (Zack Dack).  Cherished “Gramps” of Hazel Allen, who held a special place in his heart.  Also loved and remembered by his sister Cathy Biederman (Terry). He has left an aching hole in our hearts.

Jim retired after a successful management career in professional sales and marketing in the technology sector. He worked for various companies over the years, including IBM, Systemhouse, Digidyne and MKS to mention a few. He enjoyed the people that he worked with,  the challenges he met in each of his  jobs, and the extensive travel that he did.

In retirement, Jim, an avid golfer,  began marshaling at a local golf course and, Jim being Jim, soon found himself in charge of running the business golf tournaments for the club . In the winter, he also began working as a lift operator at the local ski club but soon discovered that he preferred skiing to being a “lifty”. Being retired, Jim was able to spend more time with Sandy and the children. He had always been committed and involved Dad and, even when working, always managed to arrange his schedule so that he could attend all the school concerts, music recitals and dance recitals. In retirement, he found he could attend the school track meets and field hockey games as well. He also found himself manning the “Kitchen Hotline” and “Gardening Hotline” as the family go-to expert. Retirement also allowed him to devote more time to all the activities he enjoyed and now had time for: cooking, vegetable gardening, golfing, camping, fishing, skiing, fitness and working out.

Jim was a passionate, enthusiastic, committed person who gave his all to everything he did- whether it was family, work, hobbies, or leisure- he was all in. He will be missed and loved forever and always for the wonderful, supportive husband and family man that he was. Always in our hearts.

A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Low & Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry Sunday October 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Visitation one-hour prior. Reception to follow in the Celebration Centre of the Funeral Home.

Special thanks to his care team Dr. Rothenstein, Julie and Nancy; his homecare nurses, especially Danielle; and the staff at Port Perry Hospital who cared for Jim and his family with such compassion and respect.  As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
