Donald “Jake” Cain passed away peacefully at Douglass Crossing on Sunday, July 14, 2025 at the age of 101. Husband of the late Jean Cain (nee Yake ). Forever missed by his sister Lorna Cain and brother in law Bruce Yake (Lorraine). Fondly remembered by his niece, nephews, neighbour, friends and hunting buddies. Don was predeceased by sisters Evelyn Smalley, Mildred French, Doris Smith, and brothers Stanley, Gordon and Harold.
He was truly a remarkable man of many impressive talents that was unafraid to tackle anything. He was a gifted woodworker that built many houses in the Uxbridge area. Jake loved the outdoors and found peace fishing for lake trout, flying his plane and hunting for that Bull Moose at Arpin Lodge in Cochrane. Jake had a gift for making people laugh, always armed with a joke or rhythm. Jake cherished life’s simple pleasures – good food, good rum and coke and good company were he left a lasting impression on everybody. He was truly a generous man with a big heart.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street S., Uxbridge (905-852-3073) at 1p.m. with visitation beginning at 12p.m. Following the service, a reception will be held. Jake will be laid to rest at the Uxbridge Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation or the Salvation Army, Uxbridge.
