We are heart broken to announce that Donald passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Centre on Thursday December 18, 2025 at the age of 79 years. Loving husband of 59 years to Donna (nee McGriskin). Cherished father of Kerry (Stephen), Kimberly (Wayne) and Kelly (Mike). Proud grandfather of Sara (Ryan), Nicole (William), Rachel, Matthew, Laura (Stefan), Megan (Brody). Loved great grandfather to Teddy and Aurora.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland to Donald and Jessie Tait. Donald was the beloved brother of Shelagh and Scott.
Don enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, maintaining a perfect lawn and taking his wife for a spin on the dance floor. He loved a good game of cards at the farm or just at home with family. He was a skilled mechanic, who took care of family and friends always ensuring they had a safe ride. As an avid baseball fan Don spent years coaching his girls and their friends baseball team. In retirement Don and Donna loved spending their winters in Florida playing golf and bocce ball with friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at Low & Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach St, Port Perry on Monday December 22, 2025 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Chapel on Tuesday December 23, 2025 at 11:00am with reception to follow. Interment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby.
The family sincerely thanks and appreciates the exceptional care and compassion provided to Don from Dr. McIntyre, nurse Lee , Dr. Ko and Thoracic Residents.
