In memory of Donald John Dallimore, born August 27, 1932 in London, England; who passed peacefully on November 6, 2023 after a long and happy life at his home in Udora, Ontario.
He was kind, generous and to the point of he’d give you the coat off his back, and fair with everyone, friend or foe. Dad was the type of person who helped people to bring out the best in themselves. He encouraged and supported many friends over his time in the Uxbridge community, many of whom he welcomed into his home and life as new family. He enjoyed knowing that a building he built on the Sandford Road as a toy store called Dallytoy is now a commercial cidery. Don and Gwen established the Ballantrae Child Care Centre. He was a tradesman and home builder, a ‘Jack of All Trades’, putting his talents to restoring his prized’29 Chev and creating beautiful wood carvings and stained glass artistry.
Dad knew he had used up a few of his nine lives and he was ready to go when he left us. His death has left us with memories that no one can ever steal. Don is survived by his daughter, Karen Dallimore and his sister, Barbara Thresher, an Uxbridge resident.
Predeceased by his wife, Gwendoline (nee Bunce), his ashes will join hers in the St. John’s Church Bunce family grave in Hillingdon Village, Uxbridge, England, in December 2024. Their best years were together; they’ll be together again, likely laughing at something.
Condolences are welcome at lowandlow.ca, as well as donations to the kind and competent health care team at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.
