Donald William Blacktopp

August 11, 1936 - July 12, 2024

Donald William Blacktopp, beloved husband of Sharon, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 12, 2024 at Oak Ridges Hospice, Port Perry. He was a loving father to Mike (Dee) Blacktopp and Brent (Justine) Blacktopp, and cherished Papa to Glen (Krista) Herring, Donna (Zak) Price, Michelle (Donnie) Hulme, Ray Blacktopp, and Ryan Blacktopp. Don was also a proud great-grandfather to John, Mason, Scott, Gavin, Sophie, Quade, Julianna, Joshie, and Abby. He was predeceased by siblings Diane Akaye, Carol Handrahan, Butch Blacktopp and and is survived by Bruce Blacktopp (the late Gail), Barb (Jim) Hamilton, and Bill (Joyce) Burgess. Don will be missed by many nieces and nephews, along with special friends Bruce, Brian and Jamie.

Don spent decades as a dedicated truck driver, a career he loved. Known for his friendly demeanor and willingness to lend a hand, Don was always ready to help a friend or family in need. He shared a deep passion for traveling with his wife, exploring almost every state and province in their trailer. In his later years, he found joy in simple pleasures, often meeting friends for lunch at Wendy's.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Low & Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry, Ontario. A memorial service to celebrate Don’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 11:00am in the Low and Low chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to Oak Ridges Hospice, Port Perry would be appreciated. Their warmth and unwavering support is beyond measure.

Your unwavering kindness and care meant the world to Don, who cherished his daily lunches at your establishment. Your friendly smiles and genuine concern made Wendy's not just a place to eat, but a warm and welcoming community for him. Thank you for brightening his days and for being a source of comfort. Your thoughtfulness will always be remembered fondly. 

A heartfelt and special thank you to Kayla and Rachel for your tender love and care of Don.
