Diane Kathleen HOWELL

We are devastated to announce Diane’s passing on Thursday, May 13, 2021 after a short but intense battle with a rare and aggressive cancer. Predeceased by her father William Howell, she will be sadly missed by her mother Kathleen Howell (nee Hindle), siblings Karen Howell, Alan Howell (Vicki) and Arlene Lyon (Reg). She will also be missed by nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and her four-legged babies, Buster and Bella. Diane leaves behind an extended family of uncles, aunts and many cousins. Her large and varied circle of friends, some of whom were life-long and some more recent, were a vital part of her life and a constant source of support and companionship over the years but especially in the last few grueling months.

Diane was a smart, funny, exuberant and enthusiastic personality. She was a dreamer with a large dose of practicality. She dreamed of being a writer, so she got her degree in journalism and wrote a book. She dreamed of travelling, so she made a career in the travel industry and explored the world. She loved to read and enjoyed history, nature, sports and adventures of all sorts. She loved being entertained and doing the entertaining. She could discuss politics and current events as easily and knowledgeably as she could the latest baseball scores. Above all else, Diane loved her family and friends and was fiercely loyal and generous to those who were fortunate enough to have her be a part of their lives.

Diane had a final wish for her family and friends. She did not want to be a burden and she didn’t want people to be sad. To honour her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held at a future date to celebrate her life. Arrangements entrusted to Low and Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry, Ontario L9L 1A6 (905-985-7331).
