David Wayne Gifford Obituary
Passed away surrounded by his family at Markham-Stouffville Hospital at the age of 71 years. Beloved husband of Leslie (nee Giroux) for 49 years, loved and missed by his children Heather Radovski (Rick) and Matthew (Sarah Dinner). Cherished grandpa of Elena, Nash and Nixon. Also survived by his father Harry, his siblings Bob (Lorraine), Janet Stennull (Manny), Kim Campbell (Carl) and Greg (Lee Anne) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother Betty (nee South).
Dave was born in Toronto, grew up in Scarborough and raised his children in Pickering. Recently he and Leslie moved to Uxbridge to spend their golden years together, where he loved their new home and community.
Dave’s favourite pastime was golfing and he enjoyed playing and travelling to many golf destinations including PEI, Myrtle Beach, Arizona, Florida, Banff, Quebec and many courses across Ontario. He especially loved golfing with his family and his regular golf rounds with his guys at Lakeridge and Winchester golf courses.
He loved his family beach and golf vacations in Florida, staying up late with Matthew for one more game of cribbage, golfing with the family, tacos and queso, and grouper sandwiches on the beach.
Dave also loved a good game of euchre, he was a very shrewd euchre player and loved to play with his family and friends. He made connections with many people he met, and cherished his many friendships from his days pitching fastball, golfing, his children’s friends, and his many long term special friendships who were like family to him.
When not spending time building and operating the successful commercial construction company he was extremely proud of, he was a dedicated family man who enjoyed attending the many sports and activities his children and grandchildren participated in, expecially the hockey games and volleyball tournaments, and always enjoyed taking his family out for dinner at his favourite restaurants, he loved a good cheeseburger.
Dave was a generous man, a man of great integrity and love, a Dad his children were especially proud of. We recall him going back into a store to return the money when they gave him too much change, and he always gave the Friday night pizza guy a tip that made his day.
Cremation has been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge. A Celebration of Dave’s life will be held in the future. Friends and family are invited to join us in remembering and express condolences www.lowandlow.ca.
We will miss him every day, we loved him dearly and cherish our memories, forever missed and never ever forgotten.
