Daniel John Burg Obituary

February 26, 1980 – March 17, 2025

Dan Burg lived his best life every single day—full throttle, 5th gear pinned. He was a man of big dreams, boundless energy, and a fearless drive to chase every adventure. His larger-than-life personality and big heart made him unforgettable to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dan had a deep passion for motorcycling, snowmobiling, and boating. He was an incredibly skilled rider who loved leading the pack and setting the pace. His obsession with all things fast meant he built a fleet that would make anyone envious. Whether on two wheels, a sled, or the water, he lived for the ride. He was known as "Turbo Burgo," a nickname that perfectly captured his relentless energy, and during a recent bucket list motorcycle trip through the Alps, he earned the name "DaniMAL"—a testament to his fearless spirit.

He loved deeply and was fiercely passionate about his family. A loyal husband, devoted father, and the hardest worker, Dan gave 110% to everything he did. His smile could brighten any room, and his voice was as big as his heart.

Dan took immense pride in serving his community as a volunteer firefighter with Township of Scugog Station 62, dedicating nearly five years to protecting and helping others. He also gave back as Secretary of the Caesarea Firefighters Association. His band, Red Cup County, was supported through local organizations, and through his love of music, he found another way to bring people together and give back.

Professionally, Dan was a Health and Safety expert at Elexicon Energy, where he was deeply passionate about his work and ensuring the well-being of others.

Dan leaves behind the love of his life and biggest fan for over 22 years, Wife, Michelle Burg and his pride and joy, cherished Daughter, Danica Burg. He is also survived by his sister, Melanie Walls (Burg), brother-in-law Jamie Sharples, their children Ryan Sharples, James Walls, Taylor Sharples, and Julia Walls, as well as his brother, Johnathan Burg, and partner Dania Shewchuk.  Predeceased by his parents Sandra Burg (Lewis) and Wytze (John) Burg. He will be forever missed by his mother-in-law, Marianne Bowden; brothers-in-law Jonathon Doucett and Nicolas Doucett, his wife Melissa Doucett and daughter, Isabella. In addition, he leaves behind his beloved Doucett extended family, who meant the world to him.  He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, bandmates, and the entire community he loved so much.

Dan was incredibly proud to serve and give back. In his honour, donations can be made to the Caesarea Firefighters Association, Operation Scugog, and Big Brothers Big Sisters North Durham.
