It is with great sadness that we announce the very sudden and unexpected passing of Chris “Maestro” Broughton, on July 16th, 2021, at the young age of 71. Youngest son of Betty and Arthur Broughton, brother of Patrick (deceased) and older brother Richard (Mary). Loving husband of Ann for 44 years, adored father of Simon (Cheryl) and Eric (Amy), special Grandpa to Thomas and Everly, and extended family in the UK, B.C, and N.B.
Always the English gentleman, Chris immigrated to Canada as a BMO UK hire in 1972. Working in numerous roles in a variety of cities across Canada, Chris was a hardworking, dedicated, quiet force that treated everyone right and was truly admired by all who got the opportunity to work for him over his 39 year career.
His smile and special foibles will ever be remembered daily at the ranch by his family, including his canine companions (Jesse, Hurley, Kona, and Billy). Whether by glancing at the meticulous lawn and gardens, having a G and T with only lemon at “drinkie” time, trying to string up the lights at Christmas, listening and dancing at the always memorable vinyl nights, remembering his numerous eclectic car purchases, and never being able to adopt the Canadian idea of finger foods and always having a knife and fork handy when eating chicken wings and pizza.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 2p.m. to 5p.m. at Chris’ cherished gardens at 965 Scugog Line 8, Port Perry. Please RSVP to a_cbroughton@hotmail.com. Arrangements entrusted to Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street South, Uxbridge (905-852-3073). Those who wish to make donations in Chris’ memory are invited to support the current Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter.
