Bryan MADRYGA Obituary

Bryan Andrew Madryga was a brilliant, inspiring, endearing man who loved to help others. He was born in Toronto on September 30, 1969, and grew up in Markham, Ontario. Bryan planned to be an electrical engineer since early childhood, and attained that goal at McMaster University. Bryan always had an interest in the workings of things and often identified with the comic character Dilbert. He realized a lifelong dream of working with airplanes as an Aerospace engineer with Bombardier for the last years of his life.

Bryan was powerfully motivated to be of help to others in any way, and he strove to continually learn and grow both professionally and personally. His interests included real estate investment, entrepreneurship, fitness, music and spirituality. Bryan loved to meet new people and was so approachable that strangers would often stop to ask him for directions or just to chat. He looked for and found the good in people, they responded in kind. Bryan donated generously to a wide variety of charities.

Bryan’s amazing memory was legendary in his family, circle of friends and colleagues. He was able to recall conversations, facts and events accurately from almost every year of his life.

Bryan cannot be described without mentioning his passion for music, particularly the Beatles, and Sloan, and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of popular music spanning several decades. He loved being on the dance floor at a wedding or a concert, and it was always a thrill for him to be able to meet his band heroes after the show.

Bryan also had a great sense of humour and enjoyed puns, jokes and dearly loved sharing a giggle over the absurdities of life.

Less well known about Bryan was the fact that he was challenged with Bipolar Schizoaffective Disorder. The strength and courage he displayed in fighting depression and the other effects of his illness inspired all who knew this about him. Tragically, these challenges became overwhelming, and he passed away on February 8, 2021 in Markham, Ontario.

Bryan is survived by his wife Rebecca Shaw, father Gary (Lin) Madryga, sisters Marilyn Karamaritis (nee Madryga), Joanna (DeAndre) Mahadeo and brother Joshua (Reva) Madryga and their sons Enoch and Gideon, as well as extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Madryga (nee Gaymer), grandparents Dorothy and Robert Gaymer, Mary and Nicholas Madryga.

Bryan loved with his whole heart and has left an indelible mark on all of ours. He will be dearly missed and we will forever be grateful for all that he brought to this world. As Bryan would say “que no pare la fiesta.”

Due to COVID restrictions, a private family service will be held at Low and Low Limited in Uxbridge. An interment service and celebration of life will take place at a later date for family and friends.

In remembrance of Bryan’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) or the charity of your choice.
