Barry Lloyd Kenneth Johnston Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the family of Barry Johnston announces his passing on December 1, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 80. Barry was a gentle, steady presence whose kindness, humour, and unwavering love for his family will be forever remembered and cherished.

Born on June 25, 1945, Barry was predeceased by his loving parents, Lloyd and Mary Johnston, and by his brothers Brent and Keith. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Barry will be dearly missed by his loving wife Jean of 57 years, his four sisters, Cindy Phillion (Roland), Lloydine Phillion (Edwin), Helen Purdon (William), and Lori Kennette (Scott Wraight), as well as his brother John Johnston. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and love carried on by his 5 sons Rob, Adam, Ian, Kent and Brad and a lifetime of memories cherished by his 6 grandchildren: Ethan, Brett, Delaney, Jeremy, Jakob, and Ryan.

Barry always carried a fun, outgoing, positive attitude, and held a genuine love for both his family and sports. In the early 1990s he proudly owned Sportsland, a place that reflected his passion and community spirit. He later opened a bicycle repair business, where his skill, kindness, and reliability quickly earned him the nickname “the bike guy.”

Barry’s family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with those who went before him, and they will forever hold his memory close.

A Celebration of Life to honour Barry will be held at Low & Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry on Sunday May 3, 2026 from 11:00am-3:00pm.
