Passed away peacefully on Friday June 6, 2025 at the Port Perry Hospital at the age of 96 years.
Husband of the late Joyce Whitehead and Mary Bell. Loved and remembered by his children Louise Irwin (Leon), Cathy Stableford (Stephan), Vicky Murphy, Tom Stableford, and predeceased by Arthur and Christina. Also missed by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brother of the late Bryon, Dora, Ronnie, and Hank. Special mention to Kitty Stone (Joe) who was always there to lend a hand.
Art started his dairy farming career near Oshawa and in 1965 moved to Little Britain where he continued farming until 1981. He moved to a smaller parcel and remained there up until his passing. His vegetable and flower gardens were beautiful. Many a person stopped to take pictures of his sunflowers.
He was an honorary member of the Port Perry Curling Club and the Lawn Bowling Club. Covid ended his curling in 2020 but he continued to lawn bowl right up until this year.
A Celebration of Art’s life will be held on Sunday August 3, 2025 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Low and Low Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry, Ontario.
